Shodan Grading Prep
Shodan shows you can enter adult keiko with correct basics. Examiners watch whether ki, ken, and tai arrive together — see our Ki-Ken-Tai-Ichi guide.
Jitsugi focus
Straight men, committed kote, visible seme intention, and zanshin after every cut.
Kata & written
Practise required Nippon Kendo Kata with a partner weekly. Review AJKF sample written themes if your region uses them.
Practice takeaway
After reading, write one question for your sensei and one habit to try at the next keiko. Clarity without practice does not stick.
Hong Kong context
Urban venues, humid summers, and multilingual clubs shape local practice. Ask about schedule and language of instruction when you visit.
